The monograph summarizes data of the author and the Institute of Steppe UB RAS prepared in the projecting period, organization and the beginning period of the state environmental reservation “Orenburgsky” activity. There is given a complex landscape-ecological characteristics of four plots of the reservation.

There is considered environmental specifi cs of “the Pre-Ural steppe” as the projected fifth plot of the reservation. It is contained data about landscape and biological diversity of steppe places as objects of the perspective environmental –preserve fund of Orenburgskaya oblast.

The monograph is published on the frame of the UNDP/GEF/ Environmental Ministry of Russia project “Improving the Coverage and Management Efficiency of Protected Areas in the Steppe Biome of Russia” and the RGS project “Steppe world of Eurasia”.
